Another popular concept of teeth whitening products are the over-the-counter whitening strips. Crest, for example, is a famous example of these whitening products. Unfortunately however, these products simply lack the effectiveness of dentist prescribed Do-it-yourself home-whitening treatments. For this reason, companies and manufacturers have spent millions of dollars in advertisement and false testimonies about miraculous and drastic changes. In return, people are lulled into a false sense of guarantee of the product to whiten their teeth for a small fee. When they do not get the results they want, they presume that they’re not using it enough and do not adhere any more to the regulations and prescribed usage of the products. This leads to complaints about sensitive gums and other oral health problems.

The hoard of whitening products that fill the shelves nowadays have all been tried and used by people with varying degrees of success. Most effective home treatments use those prescription strength kits provided by the dentist. Though they are somewhat similar to the clinical procedures, these kits provide a somewhat similar result with a longer treatment time. The reason for this is the lack of specialized equipment and professional expertise that may assist in speeding up the process. Typically though, these treatments start showing results 5-10 days. People should be made aware however that they may be required to wear these contraptions filled with the whitening gel from time spans of a few minutes to overnight.
