Last on our reasons and benefits for this month’s blog is that having braces is kind of habit forming in maintaining oral health, especially to younglings. Having braces on requires a person to be of high maintenance in terms of his or her oral hygiene. It would definitely stink if you won’t clean it once in a while. And who would like that? so by this tedious, and mind you, daily routine, once your braces come off, this routine has grown on you, and would be a habit of the person to maintain good clean oral hygiene and attract other people by those sparklies.

Braces aren’t that big of a deal these days! Unlike before when children tease their peers and calling them names like metal mouth and as such, because today, we don’t use the metal contraption that’s all over our head. There are brackets out in the market that are very discreet and would fit to the color of our teeth. There are cool brackets that are also out in the market that are really different, like the glow in the dark brackets for the kids to wear. Basically, having braces is accepted in the society today, so there’s no reason for you not to have one.

For this month’s series of entries for this blog, as what you have read above is that I will be stating reasons why you should get braces (well, if you need one) but you are having some second thoughts on getting one yourself. As a person having one before, it wasn’t really a hassle and didn’t really hamper my lifestyle in the 5 whole years that I had those on. So just keep posted on this blog and yeah, you can also share your reasons in the comments section on why should people undergo this process. Okay, till then guys!

Years ago, dental braces were used only for pre-teens and teens having problems with their bite (malocclusion). Today, orthodontic treatments are not only for pre-teens and teens, but for adults as well.

Close to 30% of all orthodontic patients in the United States are adults. Despite this growing trend towards adult orthodontics, it pays to start orthodontic treatment early for maximum effectiveness. The American Dental Association recommends that children receive an orthodontic evaluation by age seven.

Many have heard of the Invisalign System of braces which is one of the most revolutionary teeth alignment systems around. As the name implies, it is virtually invisible making it less obtrusive to the wearer making it the ideal choice for adults who live active lives. Nobody wants unsightly metal braces more than professionals in the office who want better smiles yet shun the metal-mouth approach. It isn’t for everybody though and only licensed and accredited orthodontists can prescribe them for use.
Using advanced 3D imaging, the system allows the making of these marvelous invisible braces that can be removed for normal brushing and flossing that is quite difficult with traditional metal braces. Going to the ball or some other function, simply pop it off and store it in your purse for that unimpeded smile people so love.
The system is worn for two weeks or more depending on the adjustments desired and new ones that have been adjusted can be prescribed for more changes should they be desired. It has revolutionized the way we make our teeth looking better resulting in better smiles that is for the whole world to see.

I should’ve waited for this. There is a new invention in town of orthodontics. It’s OraMetrix’s SureSmile. SureSmile reduces the time to make your teeth straight up to 6 months or a year only, not just like ordinary braces that takes a year or two. According to company CEO Charles Abraham, OraMetrix’s SureSmile combines digital 3-D imaging, computer-aided treatment planning and customized archwires to unbend teeth about 40% faster than traditional braces. Another advantage of OraMetrix’s SureSmile is that it will make you visit less, thus giving you less discomfort. SureSmile use an OraScanner, a video camera-like gadget that maps the path of each patient’s tooth movement when treatment begins. That allows the dentist to create a plan based off a 3D computer model. Traditionally, a plaster model and 2D X-rays have been used to create a treatment arrangement. Since this treatment is fast, it also is expensive, but those who had undergone the process said that its worth it.

A person’s jaw will be different from another. One thing you will notice is the growth of molars that will surely vary in number. For the small mouthed people, it may be a problem and may cause discomfort because the size of your jaw can accommodate only a certain number of molars and wisdom tooth.

A normal alternative is to have these molars taken out. You may notice that you will have limited major biters in your mouth but if you talk about overall pain, you just have to take them out so that you can avoid the chronic pain you will get from overcrowded teeth.

People will notice that if they don’t take care of their teeth growth, they may end up growing in various directions. This is one reason why braces and retainers are being used today. Other than to flash a great smile, they are really meant to correct the growth of teeth and shaping them to make a perfect fit.

This is something we see normal in kids today. While some people practice it even during their adult stages, nothing beats the proper maintenance and care of your teeth. It complements overall grooming and surely teeth presentation is part of it.
